Today's Meal

Forthcoming
Foreign correspondent for the Guardian Luke Harding's Collusion: How Russia Helped Trump Win the White House publishes in 10 countries on November 16, with Guardian Faber releasing in the UK and Vintage publishing in the US, as a $16.95 trade paperback. The book focuses the "the gripping inside story" of the dossier compiled by former MI6 officer Christopher Steele in 2016, but promises to add "exclusive new material and key sources from the intelligence community." It is based on conversations with people close to Steele and draws on a wide range of sources in the US and UK. The book itself was kept secret until now, edited offline, with tight security among the publishing players, and all communications about the project were conducted in encrypted format.

The simultaneous translation publishers are Penguin Random House in Spain and Germany, along with Into in Finland, Flammarion in France, Nieuw Amsterdam in Holland, Mondadori in Italy, Bonniers in Sweden, and Forlaget Press in Norway. Harding is
represented by David Godwin Associates.

Acquisitions

Hachette Book Group has acquired Minnesota-based Meadowbrook Press's 25-title line of books about pregnancy, childcare, and parenting. The books will be published under the Da Capo Lifelong Books imprint. Going forward, Meadowbrook's children's and gift/humor books will be published by Running Press.

Da Capo vice president and publisher John Radziewicz said, "We've long admired Meadowbrook's market-savvy publishing program and authors, and we're thrilled to welcome these innovative, authoritative, and engaging books to the Lifelong list. They’re a terrific complement to our current offerings in the pregnancy and parenting categories and allow us to expand into new areas within these categories as well."

Meadowbrook president Bruce Lansky commented: "Over the past few months I have come to the conclusion that Lifelong Books will be a great fit with our pregnancy and parenting line, and I know that the books will benefit from the vision and energy of the entire Hachette Book Group team."

Kate Napolitano will join Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as senior editor starting November 13. Previously, she was senior editor for Plume/Blue Rider.

At Casemate Group, Curtis Key has been promoted to vice president digital services and publishing operations; Sam Caggiula becomes US group marketing and publicity director, but will continue to acquire titles and look for publishing partnerships; and Michaela Goff has been promoted to the new position of vice president, sales, marketing and client relations.
