A Māori Word a Day

A Māori Word a Day
Hēmi Kelly

The ongoing resurgence of te reo Māori went global with the 2017 release of the reo-Māori version of Disney’s Moana. It isn’t uncommon today to hear everyday greetings, farewells and introductions in Māori used on mainstream television and radio and this year the Government made a commitment to integrate te reo Māori into every ECE, primary and intermediate school by 2025.

It has been 30 years since te reo Māori was declared an official language of New Zealand, and now we are enjoying the peak of the renaissance with more and more New Zealanders embracing, learning and using our indigenous language.

A Māori Word a Day offers an easy, instant and motivating entry into te reo Māori. Through its 365 Māori words, you will learn the following:

- Definitions and word types

- Fun facts and background information

- Sample sentences, in both te reo Māori and English

Exploring the most common and contemporary words in use today, A Māori Word a Day is the perfect way to kickstart your reo journey!

An incredibly simple, fun and practical Māori dictionary for all New Zealanders.
